Thank you to Martyn Jackson for these match report and all the others he continues to provide for us.
Holt 1st XV travelled again to deepest Essex for their last league fixture of the 24/25 season. Sadly they were unable to end the season on some sort of a high going down 76/21 to Woodford. This means that Holt will finish 10th in the 11 team league. With the demise of Dagenham at the start of the season it is believed that there will only be 1 team relegated this season. That should be Stowmarket who, although still having one game left to play cannot overhaul Holt. So Regional 2 (Level 6) rugby should once more be played at Bridge Road next season. There have been some very encouraging improvements in the last few weeks, so with a summer to regroup there's great hope for next season.
Congratulations to our Moongazer man of the match Tom Goose sponsored by Larking Gowan. DOTD – Nick Harding
The 1st XV have the small matter of the Senior Norfolk Cup to deal with before then though! On Sat 12 April they take on North Walsham, at Bridge Road, 3 pm kick off. They then have to play Norwich away, the date and time TBC. The finals are on May 3rd.
Congratulations to all our 1st XV team players who made the Norfolk side who won the Tri Counties cup last week at Bury St Edmunds. That is Harry Yarbo, Charlie Howard, Freddy Carter, Tom Goose and Tom Jackson, who also captained the side.
The 2nds meanwhile on Saturday faced the daunting task of playing Lakenham Union at home. Lakenham union were formed from two clubs who combined last season, Lakenham & Hewitt and Norwich Union. They were lying in 2nd place in the league before the match. They outclassed, and out-weighed our 2nds considerably running out winners 50 points to 7. The 2nds never gave up and in fact finished very strongly, but, the frankly enormous Lakenham Union pack dominated from start to finish. The highlight for our 2nds was Ben Chisholm’s superb try. The 2nds have one more league fixture versus Lowestoft & Yarmouth in two weeks time.
Congratulations to our Moongazer man of the match Toby Thornbury. DOTD Neil Robinson
The 3rds also lost after a fierce battle with Lowestoft & Yarmouth 26/10. Ben’s mighty tertians march on. They have an interesting fixture in two weeks time when they entertain Diss at Bridge Road. At stake will be not only league points, but also Norfolk junior cup advancement and last but not least, the Harrison Cup, played for annually between Diss and Holt. The 3rds will then have one more cup game versus Thetford 1st team on April 26th.
Congratulations to our Moongazer man of the match Harry Banyan. DOTD Alex Wallace
