It is with great sadness that Holt RFC have heard that one of their own Alan Gibbs passed away on Saturday 19th of November, peacefully with his wife Gillian by his side.

Alan originally was a member of Hertfordshire Rugby Club. He was a well-respected referee’s assessor, when the family moved to Norfolk, he was President of Norfolk Referees society, and also Match Secretary for Norfolk.

Alan joined Holt Rugby Football Club and soon became our Fixture Secretary which he did for at least 15 years. Within this time, he became Club Chairman in 2003 and 2004. I have many fond memories of my time with Alan, especially travelling to away fixtures hearing about his love and volunteering for the Sheringham to Holt Railway, his work at Holkham Hall and of course his love for his family Gillian, Andrew, and Charlotte who we send our heart felt condolences to.

We know that Alan will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The funeral service to take place at Cromer Crematorium on Friday 16th December at 1pm followed by a wake at Holt Rugby Football Club, Bridge Road. The family welcome you to join them.
